I am finding very interesting things about Bulimia Nervosa and I have gotten alot of information so far.

Bulimia is more than just a problem with food, it is also a problem of health. Men and Women of all ages and sizes can have this disease, and yet it is very harmful.

Places where Bulimia may come:

  • Culture
    Families

  • Life changes or stressful events

  • Biology

  • Wealth

Signs of Bulimia (appearance and actions):

  • Using diet pills

  • Going to the bathroom after dinner

  • Exercising to much

  • Swollen cheaks

  • Rough skin

  • Teeth that look clear

  • Broken blood vessels in eyes

  • Thinking that the person is fat

This is a very serious disease that people are very unaware about. People are dyeing from it every day. Yet nothing is stopping it.

Bulimia Nervosa and the Digestive System

In Science 8 I have been learning about Bulimia Nervosa.
It was founded by the British psychiatrist Gerald Russell in 1979. The word ‘Bulimia’ derives from the Latin word hunger.
In this topic of discussion I have linked this to the body system I have also been studying, The Digestive System.

Bulimia Nervosa is an undetected problem that people have been trying to solve. The most common form of this disease is self-induced vomiting. Self induced vomiting can also be known as purging (eating a lot until you throw up) and/or fasting (not eating anything). This is a serious disease and people do not know the explanation. It damages your stomach because people need to eat. If you are not eating anything and getting smaller then your MBR (metabolic rate) is going down, that means that if you stop purging, fasting, or being bulimic then when you get off of that you are more than likely going to gain weight like crazy. Which means that your digestive system needs to work.

Your digestive system is started in the mouth and is completed in the small intestine. Digestion is when the food or drink goes into your mouth and mixes with foods to break down large molecules of food into small molecules of food. Digestion juices mix with the food in your mouth and break down large molecules of food into smaller molecules. Your digestive system does this because food and drink must be changed down into smaller molecules in order to be absorbed into the blood and carried the cells throughout the body to give yourself nutrients.
Then it goes through the rest of your body through the whole digestive process.

So being Bulimic makes your digestive system not work properly and that means that you will not be able to obtain the foods that you could before without gaining weight. This is a very scary disease. People are dyeing from it.

And this is what I have been learning about in science 8.
